Newchurch 09:45: 1 cormorant flying towards Clough Bottom or Clowbridge. 1 great spotted woodpecker drumming in the grounds of Ashlands Nursing Home on Turn Pike.


Edge Cote 10:30: 1 grey heron, 23 snipe, c40 black headed gull, c40 common gull, flocks of 30,14 &46 wood pigeon flying south west, 1 skylark, 29 fieldfare, 4 redwing, 30 starling, 4 reed bunting.


Holden Vale 12:40: 4 long tailed tit, 6 goldfinch, 12 chaffinch, 1m bullfinch.


Holden Wood Res 13:00: 1 great crested grebe, 1 grey heron, 5 cormorant, 10 mallard, 1 moorhen, 11 lapwing, 1f kestrel, c80 black headed gull, c40 common gull, 3 meadow pipit, 4 reed bunting.


Ogden Res 13:45: 1 grey heron, 1f goldeneye, 50 fieldfare, 40 redwing, 2 mistle thrush, 50 starling.


Calf Hey Res 14:20: 3 mallard & very little else.


Haslingden Moor 15:30: 8 snipe, over 175 asstd carrion crow & jackdaw flying towards Calf Hey to roost, 1 flock of 120 birds.


Troy Woods 14:20:32 magpie flying in to roost.


Yesterday a male sparrowhawk was at our feeders at Gaghills.
