Historical distribution of birds in rossendale

It would be really interesting to see historicalrecords of birds in Rossendale.  how wouldsuch information be accessed?   Is any such information kept?   It would be really good to have something on the website about what birds occured in rossendale - were there ever eagles, ospreys, storks, bustards, black grouse etc ever recorded here?

The page Ste mentions has ROC reports back to 1993. Paper copies exist back to 1976 when the club was founded. Rawtenstall Library should have a full set in their reference collection.

There is also another interesting document on the webpage - an electronic version of C K Parker's list of 1928. Not too many surprises in it but take a look at Corncrake. My Dad used to live in the Chapel Hill area and told me the species could often be heard calling in the mowing meadows in the 1930s.
