Recorded -14.1 at 6.08 today, what effect will such low temperatures be having on some of our more vulnerable bird species?.

Was that recorded in your local area? It makes me wonder how so many birds will survive. This winter may even be longer than the last one.

Hey
Last night a record low for the garden was recorded as it dipped down to -12.2 C

As regards the survival of the birds....I would imagine due to all the worst factors coming into play, ie short days, freezing prolonged periods day and night, inability to search for ground food and of course the problem of warmth over night.

Wrens, Goldcrests, and no doubt others will succumb.

SO PUT OUT YOUR SCRAPS!
