The Garden Bird Health Initiative

I am once again seeing several species showing signs of the disease trichomonosis.

I sent off my form to show this and was sent a reply accordingly.

For all those that feed the birds it is a good time to clean those feeders etc. If you are interested in finding out more then please check out the website
http://www.ufaw.org.uk/gbhi.php

If you have diseased birds showing please could you download and fill in the data sheet.

Sadly even though I have cleaned my feeders I have noted 3 Greenfinch, all adult and 1 young Bullfinch showing signs of disease.

I wonder if we may be encouraged to feed only part of the year as in the past? It is sad to say that the first cases of this disease have now hit the continent and this is down to the disease from migrating UK Chaffinches from the UK.

Just as a follow up Birdguides released this with a picture of what the disease leaves a bird looking like.
