Just a note to others that waxwings are now being seen.  Barrow, Preston, Knutsford.

Hope they stop off around here. Anybody looked at weather in the scandanavian regions?

Hi Ste,

If you check the Manchester web site you will find a Waxwing sighting at Turton today, there are a few good sites in Oldham area where I work that I have been checking, having read the reports from the east coast of quite a large influx over the last couple of weeks

I think we could be lucky in Rossendale this weekend, fingers crossed.

Hi Ste and Brian,

Where in Rossendale are likely places that Waxwings will turn up?

Sarfraz

In truth anywhere where berries exist. The obvious is Rowan Trees with the more colourful (Yellow, White, Orange) berries often. Boacholt way half way in the fruiting trees in the past and I was lucky enough to see them a few years ago right outside the garden. They hung around until April eating buds of Poplar.

So keep an eye on berries!

 Sarfraz,

If you type Waxwing into our web site "search" you will find our past record of sightings in Rossendale, but as Ste rightly said they can turn up anywhere there are berries.

But the more eyes that are looking the more chance of finding them, good luck.
