Help with New Member's photos ....

I'm new to this game and have a garden for the first time in my life.  After reading some of the posts on here I'm wondering why I get so excited to see any colourful little bird coming to feed in the garden - but I'm finding it quite addictive!

I know most of the ones I am seeing but could someone please put me right on the attached photos?  I think they are:

(1) Great Tit; (2) ?? Blue Tit or Female Great Tit?? (I thought Blue Tits were smaller than this...); (3) Coal Tit; (4) Great Tit holding its own against a Long Tailed Tit.

Any comments gratefully received.

Kathy

Welcome Kathy

As Sarfraz has already helped out I can only add that I think that may well be a Male Great Tit. The width of the black chest band although it's good to see if it goes all the way under and ends in a large splodge. Could be a dominant female though!

I hope you continue your new found love as that is exactly how I began. I hope you have a deep purse!

Well done on the pictures by the way.

I thought the 3rd could have been a Great Tit too but the black crown and bib dont have the connection line type thing ....around the white cheek patch.......dont know what the technical term is LOL

Many thanks to both of you, I'm hoping to borrow a much better camera over Easter so hopefully I should get clearer photos. These birds are all coming to my garden along with Greenfinches, Bullfinches, Jays, a Redwing (never even heard of these before), plus all the regulars. Also saw a black and white woodpecker one day making its way up a tree; went round the other side and never came back out the other side!! Unfortunately didn't have the camera ready ....
