Sorry about the quality of the photos. This bird has appeared recently in the garden and I have no idea what it is. It looks sort of round and young and a bit confused so I wondered if it was a young thrush?? It's definitely NOT a robin even though it looks quite orangey from a distance.
Can I ask you why you are so definite it is not a young Robin, as that is almost certainly what it is, it has all the signs of a juvenile Robin between the speckles of the newly fledged and the start of the red breast appearing.
Brian and Craig - I've never seen a young robin before (never had a garden before this one) and I am really pleased. I thought I saw a few of them a week or so ago around the birdbath but have only seen this one since. He IS more robin sized than thrush and he looks fluffy and a bit lost. I will however keep my eye on him! Many thanks both of you.
