Having now seen diseased birds in the garden every year since c2004 I noted the BTO have now taken this seriously. Last year it spread to other European countries.
Could I ask if anybody sees the signs (see info on link) of the disease then they record this on the website setup to record such issues.
I have so far had Greenfinch, Chaffinch and a Collared Dove die. The initiative also allows the dead birds to be sent away for autopsy. It's a simple process and costs nothing to post the bird on. There are certain criteria with collection of a sample though, again details available on the link. I am sending a Collard Dove away on Monday.
I have also took the advice to stop feeding for 2 weeks.
