A Crane was sighted flying over Leighton Moss reserve at the weekend

Perhaps a new visitor for Holden Wood ?

Also at Leighton Moss a grand total of 182 Little Egrets and three W G Egrets

Cheers Craggy

Hi Craggy,

That would be nice! They have had Crane in Rossendale in the last 5 years I believe or maybe a bit longer? Can't remember who as well.

They also had a Cattle Egret at Leighton Moss. They had a Cattle Egret at Burton Mere and sometimes you got all 3 Egrets together in one spot. There was a juvenile Night Heron at Brockholes last week. I think both have had 5 species from the Herons/Egrets family each this year. On One day people saw Bittern, Heron, Great and Little Egret in late winter. 5 is quite a good count. If you include other long legged similar birds such as Crane, Spoonbill and Glossy Ibis, Leighton moss would lead the way I think. Sarfraz
