We went shopping to Leeds yesterday, 21.11.15, and my son came running up to me and said he'd found two dead birds on the street.

I said they'd be pigeons but he said no come and see.

He then showed me a Redwing and a Snipe, both freshly dead, lying next to each other on a street in the city centre of Leeds !

I couldn't explain it and just wondered if anyone had any ideas?

Regards,

David.

Hi David,

I cannot think for sure but could it be a collision between the 2?

Hi David

Very odd

Thinking could it be weather related with a combination of glass buildings and lots of lighting due to time of year?

Hi Guys,

There are several links on GM website, if you use search under my name or Woodcock for Jan 31st 2012.

On that occasion I found a dead Woodcock in Oldham town centre, the bird was in pristine condition and ended up at Manchester museum, and I eventually found out it had a broken neck.

The assumption was made that it had flown at dusk/dark and was disoriented by the lights and hit a building, I am guessing  Ste hit the nail on the head (sorry about the pun) and this is what possibly happened to David's unfortunate pair.

Regards Brian.

Hi Dave,

For your information the  same thing has happened to me several times in City Centre Leeds over the years...I blame it on the Timothy Taylors myself ..

Rob ...
