When I first moved to the Manchester area in the early sixties the mosses around the Astley and Irlam area were my refuge from the working environment of Trafford Park.
Little Woolden moss is a special rare habitat which has been managed by Lancashire wildlife Trust where a hide gave great views over the moss, and was used to teach children, including my grandson,to respect our natural enviroment.
The hide was destroyed by fire yesterday presumably started by some mindless people, donations can be sent to
dedwards@lancswt.org.uk or by phone 01772324129.
Thank You.
Brian.
