I went to see Lesser Spotted Woodpecker at Moore NR in mid-Jan but after a few hours we decided that it was late and would not show. Usual birds present incl a Tawny Owl and Goldeneye but the highlight was the number of Song Thrushes. On the 11th of February went to see Hawfinches at Sizergh but no luck...

I planned my trip to the Dee Estuary on on Sunday but nearly pulled out because of the very strong winds. I drove to the New Brighton Marine Lake first as. The high tide was around 10am.
