Hi there! Does anyone know if there is a local mammal group in Rossendale? I have seen others in Bolton etc, but I want to know what is on my doorstep. If not, is there a willing tutor who doesn't mind me tagging along, asking lots of questions and helping with surveys? I have just finished the FSC Mammal...

Hi, Large variations in the numbers of bats (15 recordings in one night & 200 the next), frequenting / feeding along the lane to Riley`s farm. Variations probably due to strong winds forcing the insects to take cover in the lee of trees. The bats exploit these conditions just like the hirundine...

Sat by my PC watching two badgers feast on peanuts in the garden, one I think is an old male the other looks like one of this years young, don't seem bothered by the floodlight on the house wall or the barking of next doors dogs. Fleeting visit by a very young fox. Cheers Tony.

A mink dragging a dead f. mallard across the river at Tesco. Presumably it had killed the bird and was taking it to feed young. Watched it down stream as far as the weir. Bob.

Hi, Amongst the common pips feeding in the shelter of trees on the lane to Riley's farm Dunnockshaw, was a Soprano Pip. (terminal frequency 54.3 kHz) recorded on a Time Expansion Device & analysed via Batsound software. All the best Andy
